Conundrum… I love using a tablet at work and I'm a software engineer which means I need a tablet with serious processing power for Visual Studio 2010, SQL Server 2008R2, etc. I also like to dabble in the occasional video editing which is extremely CPU intensive when it comes time to render the output video. To date, I haven't found anything sufficiently powerful in the tablet form other than Lenovo's X series. As a result, I've put in an order for the Lenovo X220 Tablet which features the new Sandy Bridge i7-2620M. I'm excited to see how this performs and hopefully the build quality will be sufficient that I won't need to use Lenovo's support (the premise of this entire website). Has anyone else run into the same issue? Can't find the performance/form factor they need outside of Lenovo?

I now officially hate Lenovo. Here’s why:nhttp://forums.lenovo.com/t5/W-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/Nearly-new-Laptop-in-for-repair-comes-back-broken-no-help-from/td-p/446207

Damn, wish I Googled “Lenovo sucks” before my nightmare began with them two months ago.u00a0nnMy new Lenovo Thinkpad Edge arrived with the trackpad acting like it was on crack – not responding, then deciding to go click crazy and move the cursoru00a0erratically. Lenovo tech said it was the driver. A little searching and people say the new driver is just as bad.u00a0nnAnother call to Lenovo tech and he tells me that the new driver was corrupted because the web site was being redesigned and it corrupted the driver. Really? My work is managing our company’s web site and this seems very unlikely (that a driver file would get corrupted when the web site files are being worked on.)nSo I contact tech support AGAIN – and am told I need to use an external mouse or send back the machine and it was going to be 3 to 4 weeks for the repair but nou00a0guarantee! So I reply that I just want my money back – he says contact your sale rep.nnSo I contact my sales rep – and guess what – he doesn’t return my calls, he doesn’t reply to my emails… so do I just pack it up and ship it back and hope for the best? That does not seem smart.nnSo now I have a $800 paperweight. Great.nnLENOVO SUCKS.nn

Is it true that Lenovo chose quantity over quality and try to bite more than they can handle? Do they employ desperate incompetent people in support departments?

It’s hard to imagine how a company (gee, like Lenovo) that generally makes decent computing products can be so completely incompetent at customer support. For example, it is commonly known that the Y series IdeaPad suffers from a fatal design defect that causes the premature failure of the hinges. Coordinating the return (several months after the extended warranty expired) took at least an hour on the phone with several inexplicable holds. The call to pay for the additional fees took 15 minutes merely for Lenovo’s generally incompetent, disinterested, rude, and English speaking challenged morons to process a $100 dollar credit card payment. I wonder if Lenovo management really gives a shit about us poor suckers that fall for their company’s bullshit. It will never happen again! Lenovo does absolutely suck! Assholes!
