Today, I received a pre-paid shipping box from Lenovo. Inside the box was a pre-paid UPS overnight shipping label to return my damaged X61 tablet to Lenovo for repairs. A form was also enclosed which asked me for some information regarding the damage and what items I was including in the return. I described the damage to the case, battery and LCD. I also indicated that the hard drive was not functioning.

I called Lenovo today to see about having my X61t tablet repaired. I was pretty sure I had purchased the 1-year accidental damage coverage with the tablet. I dug up the Lenovo phone number, 1-800-887-7435, and punched the appropriate numbers to get support. I spoke with a man in the Atlanta, Georgia facility who said I was fortunate to buy the 1-year accidental damage coverage. I described the accident and the damage that had occurred and he assigned a case number to me and said a box would be shipped to me to send the tablet in for repair. I also received an email shortly after the call with a URL to track the case on IBM's EasyServ information center and the UPS tracking # for the box being shipped to me.
After this call, I was impressed with Lenovo's responsiveness.
Today as I was carrying my Lenovo X61t tablet down the stairs, I dropped it. Unfortunately, I was near the top of the stairs, the laptop was open and the power was on. As a result, the laptop sustained serious damage as it bounced down the stairs and came to a sudden stop at the bottom. I've attached pictures I took shortly after the accident highlighting the damage:
